Job Description
We are looking for an experienced QA professional to take a senior role within our Software Quality Assurance teams. At Bitdefender, QA teams play a critical role throughout the software development lifecycle, and we highly value their contribution to the quality and success of our products. As a Senior QA Engineer, you will act as a technical reference point for the team, drive automation and quality standards, and mentor colleagues while owning the testing of critical product areas.

Responsibilities
As a Senior QA Engineer, your responsibilities will include:

  • Developing, maintaining, documenting, and executing comprehensive test plans, test cases, and test suites for the Bitdefender macOS product suite;
  • Analyzing design and project specifications early to prevent defects, identify gaps in documentation, and design broad test scenarios before implementation begins;
  • Performing both manual and automated testing activities — functional, regression, integration, system, load, stress, security, and performance;
  • Designing, implementing, and maintaining complex automated test scripts and contributing to the development and upkeep of the team's automation platforms, with a strong focus on expanding coverage and improving efficiency;
  • Reporting issues through the bug tracking system, conducting root cause analysis, and following defects through to resolution, including validating fixes and assessing the impact of code changes;
  • Producing manual and automated test run reports and communicating results, status, and quality metrics to the release owner to support go/no-go decisions;
  • Owning and monitoring quality metrics and indicators within your area of responsibility, and participating in risk analysis for product and module functionalities;
  • Researching, recommending, and implementing tools and approaches that improve the testing process, product quality, and overall automation level;
  • Using modern AI-based tools to improve testing efficiency, test design, analysis, and automation workflows, while applying sound judgment to validate results;
  • Mentoring and helping train Junior QA Engineers — supporting them in clarifying specifications, reporting and reproducing defects, and growing their technical skills;
  • Sharing technical knowledge across teams and delivering clear documentation and workshops in your area of expertise;
  • Contributing to the technical evaluation of team members' performance and to the assessment of candidates' technical competencies for open positions, in line with company procedures;
  • Identifying training needs and organizing sessions to raise the overall quality standard of testing;
  • Reproducing and investigating errors reported by customers, collaborating with Technical Support and the Cyber Threat Intelligence Lab to identify root causes;
  • Ensuring that the product meets all target requirements and quality standards before each release.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of experience as a QA Engineer in the software domain;
  • Experience with macOS or Linux;
  • Strong scripting skills, preferably in Python or Bash, and solid hands-on experience in QA automation;
  • Proven ability to test critical areas and modules, and to prioritize testing based on risk;
  • Solid QA skills, including troubleshooting, bug isolation and reporting, and a strong understanding of testing concepts, methodologies, and processes;
  • Experience with test case management tools, bug tracking tools, and Git;
  • Solid experience with analysis tools — metrics, charts, and quality indicators;
  • Experience creating and executing security and performance tests;
  • Openness to using AI tools in day-to-day work, with a practical mindset and the ability to critically assess the results;
  • Strong critical thinking and analytical skills — testing starts with the first requirements and continues throughout development;
  • Very good attention to detail and a meticulous approach to quality;
  • Basic to intermediate networking knowledge, and a good understanding of the technology and architecture behind the products;
  • Ability to mentor and support junior colleagues, with good teaching and communication skills;
  • ISTQB Foundation certification (or equivalent) is a plus;
  • A bachelor’s degree in computer science is a plus;
  • Good written and spoken English skills;
  • A collaborative and enthusiastic team player with a strong willingness to learn and continuously improve;
  • Commitment to the standards of quality and stability that Bitdefender proudly promotes;
  • Ability to work in an Agile Scrum environment, collaborating with the Product Owner, Scrum Master, software developers, UX designers, and fellow QA engineers.

If you join us, you will:

  • Work on great technologies and products;
  • Be part of one of Bitdefender's best QA teams;
  • Enjoy a flexible work schedule;
  • Benefit from career development programs.
